Just as surely as there is a natural world (as we know it) there is a spirit world that runs parallel. The two are intwined to such an extent that the spirit world has a great, effect on the natural world. As a result there are spirits that move effortlessly between the two. Some of these spirits are good and some are evil and the deciding factor regarding which is which comes down to their origin.
There was a time when there were only good spirits all living together in harmony, eager to serve Almighty God and do his will. However there was a mutiny and a particular spirit called Lucifer led the rebellion. He decided he was fed up with serving God and wanted to be the boss himself. As many of the other spirits agreed with him there was a great war in heaven. This resulted in God kicking all of the rebellious out of heaven. As these spirits fell and by virtue of their rebellion they ceased to be good and now became evil. The master spirit was no longer called Lucifer but he became satan the devil. The other spirits that fell with him became demons. Their mission became one of revenge and to cause as much havoc, chaos, and suffering as possible.
Isaiah chapter 14 verse 12 – 15
How you have fallen from heaven, o shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, “I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the most high.” But instead you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to its lowest depths.
Luke Chapter 10 verse 18
“I saw Satan falling from heaven as a flash of lightening!” Jesus said speaking to his disciples.
1st Peter Chapter 5 verse 8
Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour.
